Two results can only be compared in the same unit. Within one kind of unit the change is a power of ten; between mass and molar units you need the analyte's molar mass.
| From | To | Multiply by |
|---|---|---|
| ng/mL | µg/L | 1 (the same) |
| mg/dL | mg/L | 10 |
| µIU/mL | mIU/L | 1 (the same) |
| 25-OH vitamin D, ng/mL | nmol/L | 2.496 |
| Free T4, ng/dL | pmol/L | 12.87 |
HbA1c is not a factor but a formula: IFCC mmol/mol = (NGSP % − 2.15) × 10.929; 6.5 % is about 48 mmol/mol.
When you report a problem on the portal, every value can carry its own unit and is converted. A value that only makes sense in another unit (115 typed as ng/mL against a mean of 40) is caught and you are asked to check it.
